Starting out by playing Rock and Blues, Beat took up jazz guitar after being inspired by Wes Montgomery. From 1980 to 87 he studied at Swiss Jazz School in Bern (CH) and Berklee College Of Music in Boston (USA). Since then he has pursued a career of freelance performing, as well as teaching part time as guitar instructor. He was nominated for Swiss Jazz Award in 2015 with the B.B. & J.M. Trio
